Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has fixed a date of September 15 for the completion of the land acquisition and the road widening works for the Pune University Chowk to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Hare Krishna Path Double-Decker Flyover on Ganeshkhind Road.

The double-decker flyover is a part of the Pune Metro Line 3, which connects Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dinkar Gojare, Superintendent Engineer, PMC Road Department said, “4.5-meter land for both sides is required for road widening. We have started the road widening project. After road widening, a compound wall will have to be constructed. Also, some trees will have to be removed. We have issued tenders for the road widening project. We are working hard to complete the project by September 15.”

As per information shared by Gojare, the current development plan (DP) says that Ganeshkhind Road is supposed to be 45 meters wide, but it’s only 36 meters wide now. That’s why the PMC started the road widening project by sending out notices to private landowners and government agencies to acquire land. So far, out of 21 landowners, 16 have agreed to the PMC’s plan.

The Metro Line 3 is an elevated metro line that runs 23 km from the IT hub at Hinjewadi to the central business district (CBD) at Shivaji Nagar. This project is being carried out by the PMRDA based on BOT (Build Operate Transfer) and the Tata Company has been appointed to carry out the project. Work on this project is going on in full progress.
