Pune: Lavasa receives highest rainfall of 107 mm in 24 Hours; City Prepares for Moderate to Heavy Downpour

Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning against driving through hazardous areas during the Pune-Mumbai journey as the ghat regions of Pune, Nashik, and Satara are set to experience continuous heavy rainfall until June 30, posing potential risks for travellers. 

In the past 24 hours, Lavasa has recorded the highest rainfall of 107 mm, followed by Nimgiri with 35.5 mm, Lonavala with 35 mm, Lohegaon with 24 mm, Pashan with 16.5 mm, Shivajinagar with 15 mm, Vadgaonsheri with 14 mm, Chinchwad with 10 mm, Hadapsar with 10 mm, and Talegaon with 10 mm, as reported by the Meteorological Department.

A yellow alert has been issued for Pune City for the next two days due to moderate to heavy rainfall, increasing the likelihood of road flooding. It is strongly advised to refrain from travelling to nearby ghat areas during this period. Additionally, gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 35 km per hour are anticipated, which may lead to the uprooting of trees. Citizens are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant in accordance with the weather department’s warning.
