Pune Lok Adalat : Fines Reduced for 1701 Motorists with Pending Traffic Violation Cases

PUNE: The District Legal Services Authority in Pune recently conducted a Lok Adalat to address unresolved cases involving traffic rule violations. The event took place at the Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch Office, located near Yerawada Post Office in Pune.

As per the information provided, on August 28, 2023, the helpdesk at this location has been providing assistance and information to citizens regarding traffic violations. The response from motorists has been positive and encouraging. According to an official statement from the District Legal Services Authority, Pune, ‘the helpdesk is currently operational and will continue to provide its services until September 8, 2023. The final Lok Adalat for this initiative was held on September 2, 2023. During the period from August 28 to September 2, a total of 1701 motorists confessed to violating traffic rules at the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada, Pune.

The pending traffic tickets for these vehicles were thoroughly examined. The helpdesk operates from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The police are working diligently to reduce the number of pending cases and fines. Motorists visiting the relief center are advised by the traffic police and the Pune District Legal Services Authority to bring a Xerox copy of their Aadhaar card to expedite the resolution of their pending fines. Vehicle owners with pending traffic warrants are strongly encouraged to visit the helpdesk with a copy of their Aadhar card for further guidance and resolution of their cases.
