Pune : Lonikand Police Apprehends Suspect Involved in Rs 2 Crore Apple Mobile Phone Theft Case

Pune: The Lonikand police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing mobile phones of Apple company worth Rs 2 crores.

As per information from Vishwajit Kaingade, Senior Police Inspector, Lonikand Police, on the night of July 17, 2023, a total of 266 mobile phones of Apple Company were stolen from a shop located on Lonikand-Kesnand Road. A case was registered under Sections 454, 457 & 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 

During the investigation of the crime, police teams were sent to different places. The criminals on record were searched and investigated along with their pattern of crime and the gang of criminals who had committed such crimes in the past. After getting information that some gangs in Sahebganj district of Jharkhand are active in such crimes, Lonikand police officer Gajanan Jadhav and team were sent to Radhanagar Police Station, Sahebganj, Jharkhand. They investigated the said place and searched for the accused but failed to find the accused.

On August 19, 2023, Lonikand Police Officers Ajit Farande and Amol Dhone were again sent to Jharkhand. At that time, they found the wanted accused identified as Salim alias Asraul Ismail Fazal Shaikh & arrested him immediately. He was brought to Lonikand Police Station on August 24, 2023, on a 5-day criminal remand. After interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the crime with the help of four other associates. He also informed the police about how he committed the crime.

The said accused has given the information that the stolen goods in the said crime were sold by the gang leader through an agent in West Bengal. The police are searching for the rest of the accused and the suspects who took the stolen goods. They will be arrested soon after knowing their whereabouts.
