Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has sought an extension till March 1, 2024, to prepare the long pending development plan (DP) of 11 villages that were included in the municipal limits in 2017. The proposal has been sent to the City Improvement Committee for approval. However, despite so many years, the PMC has failed to do so. 

As per information, 11 villages were included in the municipal limits in 2017. Its intention was announced by the administration in 2018. The municipal corporation was given a two-year term to prepare the development plan and ask for objections and suggestions. However, due to the code of conduct of three elections and Corona pandemic, the PMC could not make the plan within the prescribed time frame.

Earlier, the PMC asked for time up to June 25 2022; However, the plan was not released during this period as well. Therefore, the municipal administration has now asked for an extension till March 1, 2024, and the proposal has been placed before the City Improvement Committee for approval.

Pune Pulse tried to contact the relevant PMC officials but couldn’t connect till the report was filed.

The 11 villages for which a draft of the development plan (DP) was to be prepared are Lohegaon (remaining), Mundhwa (remaining Keshavnagar), Hadapsar (Saadesatranali), Shivane (Uttamnagar), Shivane, Ambegaon Khurd, Undri, Dhayari, Ambegaon Budruk, Phursungi & Uruli Devachi.

The intention was released on October 4, 2018. Lockdown was announced due to the Corona pandemic across the country from March 24 2020. Accordingly, the period from March 24, 2020, to March 31, 2022, has been considered as the layoff period. There are 738 days. They will be excluded from this period i.e. from March 1 2024 period.
