Since last year, there was only discussion that Rs 200 crores would be given by the state government to acquire the land required for the widening of Katraj-Kondhwa Road. Finally, this amount has been approved in the recently held cabinet meeting. Due to this, the stalled land acquisition work is likely to speed up.

Pune Municipal Corporation had started widening of Katraj Kondhwa road in 2018. But the citizens of this area have been affected by starting the work even when the place is not in possession to gain political credit. The Municipal Corporation needed Rs 710 crores for land acquisition while constructing the 84-meter-wide road, but the work was stopped due to lack of such a large fund.

Finally, a decision was taken last year to make this road 50 meters wide. In this, it was announced that the state government will give Rs 200 crores for land acquisition. The densely populated area between Rajas Society and Shivashambhonagar can be taken over from this fund. But since the last year only announcements are being made but no progress is seen in the project.
