Residents of Blue Hills Society in Bavdhan are troubled as, due to road digging work nearby the society, the water pipeline has been broken, resulting in no water supply for the residents.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Raju Deshmukh, Resident of Blue Hills Society, Bavdhan, said “The PMC has given us so much trouble due to this road digging work. The water pipeline has been broken due to this. Hence, there is no water supply for the society. Vehicular traffic has also been impacted due to this. When we question the workers on the spot, they neglect us & tell us to call their superiors, but never give their contact numbers.

The PMC has simply dug up the road nearby our society. However, the work has been stalled. It isn’t getting completed soon. There is no communication about this. As the road, which goes from nearby our society, is a daily commuting route for several people. Hence, if any digging etc work is done on such roads, it must be done swiftly & immediately. But that is not being done. Due to the road work, if water pipeline is damaged or broken, there must be water supply department officials on the spot to inspect. Even they are not there. We residents are diligently paying property tax & still if we have to face such kinds of trouble, what shall we do?”

Milind Gawade, Resident of Blue Hills Society, Bavdhan, said “Road digging work is going on since a lot of time. The PMC must have given the work to a contractor. While doing the work, it is not checked whether anything else like water pipeline etc aren’t damaged. Hence, it is most likely damaged or broken. The water pipeline has been broken due to which there is no water supply for residents. We have urged the officials to inspect & repair the water pipeline, but that hasn’t happened yet. Hence, the PMC arranged a water tanker for us. But, to repair the broken water pipeline, the PMC has done temporary work as they had just joined the broken water pipeline with some tire tubes which were lying at a nearby tire shop. However, when the water supply comes from the PMC, due to the water force, the pipeline has been broken again due to such shoddy & temporary work. The water supply from the PMC has simply been wasted since several days due to the broken pipeline. When we question the PMC, they just keep shouldering responsibilities.”

Advocate Arundhati Garad, Secretary of Blue Hills Society, Bavdhan, said “There are 2 roads to go in & out of our society. The PMC had done digging opposite both the roads for water pipeline work. So, the access in & out of the society had been blocked. Due to digging, the current water pipeline was broken & water was being wasted for 2 hours. When we asked the PMC about this, they said that till the water force doesn’t stop, we can’t do anything. After it stopped, the PMC came & did some temporary work to join the broken pipeline. However, today, the pipeline has been broken again. The PMC sent a water tanker to us as courtesy, however the tanker in charge asked charges from us only. The PMC official, in charge of the digging work, simply comes, looks at the work & goes. The PMC doesn’t have any planning about the work.”

Priyanka Bante, Junior Engineer, PMC Road Department, said “The rectification of the damages & digging work is going on. Soon, it will be completed.”
