Pune : Maha Metro observes ridership of 12,000 commuters on inauguration day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flags off Metro trains

PUNE: After the inauguration of the Pune metro passenger services on routes including Phugewadi to Civil Court and Ruby Hall to Garware College by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) observed a ridership of 12,000 commuters between 5 pm to 10 pm on Tuesday, informed Hemant Sonawane, Public Relations Officer, Pune Metro.    Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) is expecting a daily ridership of more than 1 lakh commuters on these routes.

Sonawane said, ”The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) observed a ridership of 12,000 commuters between 5 pm to 10 pm after the inauguration of two new Pune Metro lines: Phugewadi to Civil Court and Ruby Hall to Garware College. On Wednesday, approximately 9,900 commuters travelled by metro on these lines up until 2 pm.”

The interchange facility will easily allow passengers to switch between Civil Court Metro Station, making it possible to travel from PCMC to Vanaz or PCMC to Ruby Hall. The extended routes will connect important parts of the city, such as the PMC office, Pune RTO, Shivajinagar, Civil Court, and Pune Railway Station. There are 11 stations total on the two new routes, of which two—Shivaji Nagar Metro Station and Civil Court Metro Station—are underground.

Numerous everyday travellers, such as students going to Wadia College, commuters to Pune Railway Station, and locals going to the Pune RTO, District Court, and PMC office, will all benefit from the new lines.

Additionally, Maha-Metro has offered a 30% fare discount for students and weekend commuters. Metro card members are also entitled to a 10% fare discount. Travellers can conveniently travel from PCMC to Civil Court and Vanaz to Ruby Hall for just Rs 10–35. It will take 40 minutes to travel from PCMC to Vanaz, and the fare will be Rs 35, while the fare from PCMC to Ruby Hall will be Rs 30.
