Pune : Maha Metro to get land of Swargate Transport Hub

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had decided to lease a plot of 13 thousand 941 square feet at Swargate to Maha Metro for 10 years. However, now this decision has been cancelled, and the decision to give this place to Maha Metro permanently for Rs 38 crore 54 lakh 57 thousand has been taken in the meeting of the standing committee.

Metro network is being built & expanded in Pune city. At present, the work of two routes namely Vanaz to Ramwadi and Swargate to Pimpri-Chinchwad is in final stage. For Swargate to Pimpri Chinchwad route, an underground metro station has been constructed at Jedhe Chowk at Swargate. The station will be launched in the next few months.

Meanwhile, when Maha Metro was constructing an underground metro station at Swargate, it was decided to build a transport hub by including PMPML, ST bus stations at this place. It also includes commercial networks. This land at Swargate Chowk belongs to the Water Supply Department, but while giving this land to Metro, a decision was taken in 2021 to lease about 13 thousand 941.94 square meters of land in Final Plot No. 499 and 500 A of Parvati TP Scheme 3.

The committee set up for this on 17th January 2023 fixed the annual rent for the Swargate Transport Hub land at 12 percent. As this place would be leased for 10 years, the rent would have also increased. Therefore, it would have been possible for the Pune Municipal Corporation to earn an income of more than Rs 5 crores every year.

Meanwhile, it was demanded that Maha Metro should have this land permanently. Therefore, a decision has been taken on February 8 in the Standing Committee and the General Assembly to give this land to Maha Metro permanently for Rs 39 crore 54 lakh. An agreement will be made between the Pune Municipal Corporation and Maha Metro on the basis of the approval of the State Government.
