Pune: Man Posing As OLX Buyer Steals Royal Enfield During Test Ride In Viman Nagar
Pune, May 7, 2026: The Vimantal Police in Pune have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly stealing a motorcycle after posing as a buyer through an online advertisement platform.
According to police, the complainant had posted an advertisement to sell his Royal Enfield Meteor 350 on an online marketplace. On March 10, 2026, at around 10:30 am, a person identifying himself as āIshita Mathurā contacted the seller and expressed interest in purchasing the bike.
Police said the accused later arrived to inspect the motorcycle and requested a test ride. However, he allegedly fled with the vehicle and never returned.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Vimantal Police Station under Crime Register No. 152/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
During the investigation, police analysed details linked to the online account and mobile number used in the transaction. Officials also examined CCTV footage from several locations and carried out technical analysis to trace the suspect.
Based on the investigation, police arrested Mohammad Mujabata Iqbal Sheikh, a resident of Khadi Machine Chowk on Pisoli Road in Kondhwa, Pune.
Police recovered the stolen black Royal Enfield Meteor 350 bearing registration number MH 12 UZ 8018, valued at around Rs 1 lakh.
Further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior Pune Police officials, including officers from the Loni Kalbhor Division and Vimantal Police Station.
