Pune Market Yard to remain closed on Sept 29 due to immersion procession

Pune: In order to protect the market infrastructure and improve security, the authorities have decided to close the market at Market Yard on Friday, September 29. 

It is worthy to note that the festival of Ganeshotsav draws thousands of people to Pune resulting in traffic jams. Also, several roads are closed for traffic. Thus, based on this the authorities have decided to close the market yard.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Aniruddha Bhosale, Manager, Pune Market Yard, confirming the same said, “Due to the crowd and traffic, the entire Market Yard will remain closed from September 29 to the morning of September 30.”

As per further information, some sections of the Market Yard will be temporarily closed on September 28, the day of Anant Chaturdashi. These sections are the fruit and vegetable market, flower market, Khadki sub market, Moshi sub market & Manjari sub market. All comes under the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC).

Hence, the authorities have appealed to farmers to avoid the sale of agricultural products on this day. The aim is to reduce traffic and ensure public safety during the festive season.
