Pune: Massive Water Pipeline Burst In Yerwada Wastes Millions Of Liters
Pune, April 9, 2026: Residents of Yerwada are facing a crisis as a major drinking water pipeline has burst, wasting millions of liters of potable water amid the city’s ongoing water shortage and soaring summer temperatures.
The leak occurred near the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj entrance, Shahadal Baba Chowk, and in front of Joshi Vadevale. The pipeline has reportedly been leaking for several days, causing water to flood streets and create slippery, muddy conditions, raising hygiene and safety concerns in the neighborhood.
Despite repeated complaints to local authorities, residents say no significant action has been taken so far. Citizens emphasized that such negligence is particularly alarming during peak summer months when water is a precious resource.
Social activist Sachin Bhosale expressed concern, stating, “While residents struggle to get water, millions of liters are being lost. Immediate action is needed from the concerned department to repair the line and prevent further wastage.”
The incident has disrupted daily life in the area, and fears are growing that the water shortage could worsen if the line is not repaired promptly. Residents are urging authorities to act quickly, restore water supply, and hold responsible officials accountable.
