Pune, May 2, 2023: Four noted accordionists will celebrate the ‘World Accordion Day’ on May 6 in a unique and novel manner – by playing nostalgic Hindi songs inside the Pune Metro. The program titled ‘Accordion on Wheels’, part of the ‘Celebration on Wheels’ initiative of Pune Metro, will start from the Vanaz Metro Station in Kothrud from 9.30 AM on May 6, informed accordionist and program convenor Hemant Urdhwareshe.

“I along with my fellow accordionists Chandu Kale and Ram Aswani will be playing some nostalgic Hindi songs inside the Pune Metro and at the metro station. We will be having senior and well-known accordionist Anil Gode as the Guest of Honour and he will also be playing some songs with us,” said Hemant Urdhwareshe. This is the first-time that the four accordionists will perform inside the Pune Metro.

The performance will start at the Concourse of the Vanaz Metro Station and then the songs will be played inside the Metro up to the Garware Metro Station. Songs will be played again on the return journey to the Vanaz Metro Station.

“We will also have a joint performance and also play one odd nostalgic Marathi song related to trains as we are playing in the Metro. I urge all the music lovers to be a part of the 90-minute odd special program,” Hemant Urdhwareshe said.

There is no separate ticket for the show. One needs to only buy the metro ticket to witness this unique celebration of world accordion day.
