Pune Metro Line 3 completes the erection of 2000 segments in just 9 months

The developers met Hon. Deputy Chief Minister to discuss the project update

Pune, April 24, 2023: The work of Pune Metro Line 3 connecting the IT hub of Hinjewadi with the central business district of Shivajinagar has picked up a notable pace. The works in various phases can be seen progressing at a steady pace; as a result, the erection of the 2000th segment of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro line was completed today. It is worth mentioning that the first segment of this project was erected at Hinjewadi on 23rd July 2022, after which the developers successfully completed the erection of another 1999 segments within the period of just nine months.

The work of Pune Metro Line 3 on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar route has been undertaken by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis and Tata Group has established Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited as a special purpose company (SPC) for its implementation.

Per this work, the senior officials of Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited met with the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State Hon’ble Shri. Devendra Fadnavis. Several matters related to Pune Metro Line 3 were discussed and the overall progress of this work was also reviewed during this meeting. Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro route has its own importance for Pune city and during the meeting, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited Invited Hon. Deputy Chief Minister to visit Pune to witness the ground progress of this prestigious project.

“The Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro line aims to provide an easy, fast, and cheap public transport alternative to the citizens of Pune. The developers are working at full capacity to complete the work of this project within the scheduled time. As a result of this, we have managed to achieve the construction of two thousand segments in just nine months and the erection of 50% of total piers within one year of the commencement of work,” informed Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited.

“We are working towards providing a better experience to the citizens while traveling by metro on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar route. Especially while designing the metro stations as well as the interiors of the trains, we are making designs by studying the passenger-centric mindset (‘think like a customer approach’). Since its inception, Pune Metro Line 3 has been getting great cooperation from Punekar citizens and we are deeply grateful to them for their continued support,” said Neha Pandit, Business Head, and Director, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited.

About Pune Metro Line 3:

The Pune Metro Line III is a ~23 Km elevated Metro rail project connecting the IT hub of Hinjawadi to the Central business district of Shivajinagar. It is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project awarded by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to a consortium consisting of Tata Group’s TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The Project would be developed & operated on a Design, build, finance, operate & transfer (DBFOT) basis by a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited or PITCMRL for a Concession Period of 35 years including the construction period.
