Pune: During Ganeshotsav, a significant number of devotees visit the central part of the city to witness the festivities. In order to ensure their convenience, the Pune Metro extended its service until midnight for Ganeshotsav which has received an overwhelming response from the people.

It is worthy to note that extending the metro services till midnight for the final five days of Ganesotsav was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. 

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Hemant Sonawane, PRO, Pune Metro added, “Metro service will operate until midnight from September 22 to 27. Additionally, on the day of immersion, the service will continue until 2 a.m. On September 22, between 10 p.m. and midnight, the Metro service transported 2,130 passengers. The number of passengers increased to 3,568 and 7,820 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. On Monday, the Metro service was utilized by 4,197 passengers, and on Tuesday, it was used by 3,063 individuals.

Metro passenger numbers (10 pm to 12 am)

– September 22: 2,130

– September 23: 3,568
