PUNE: Pune Metro authorities are intensifying their efforts to uphold hygiene and cleanliness standards within metro stations and trains.

In a recent crackdown, security personnel at stations have been confiscating paan, gutka, and tobacco products from passengers. Security staff seized gutkha and tobacco among a few passengers. Those who refuse to surrender these items will have their tickets invalidated.

As per the information provided, measures have been implemented following the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who directed MahaMetro to extend Pune Metro’s operating hours until midnight for the final seven days of the Ganesh festival in order to accommodate the increased number of devotees.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Hemant Sonawane, PRO, added, ”Reiterated the commitment to cleanliness and stated that the prohibition of gutka, tobacco, and other forms of tobacco during metro journeys aims to uphold a clean and hygienic environment for all passengers.”
