Pune : PMC tables proposal to NHAI for construction of foot over bridge at Chandni Chowk

Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given a detailed proposal to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the responsible body for the Chandni Chowk flyover, containing citizen suggestions such as foot overbridge construction, making the flyover pedestrian-friendly and many more.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Nikhil Mijar, PMC Road Department Transport Planner said, “We had conducted a site visit of the flyover. After ascertaining all the suggestions, opinions, issues, etc. of the citizens, we have submitted a detailed proposal to the NHAI, asking for probable solutions to citizen issues regarding the flyover. Plans to make the pedestrian friendly foot-over bridge and other amenities are in pipeline.”
As per further information from Mijar, several issues like making a foot overbridge at the flyover for pedestrians to walk safely etc were heard from the citizens.
Some other issues that were addressed :
· As there is currently no footpath in the area, pedestrians who choose to use this route to reach Kothrud require a footpath.
· In Bavdhan Circle and in the square where the NDA statue is located, a footpath is required.
· A footpath needs to be built along the road between Bavdhan (Kothrud) and the highway.
· The illegal rickshaw should be taken off the road directly in front of the entrance to Kothrud.
