Pune: MHT CET 2026 Application Deadline Extended to February 20; Students to Get Two Attempts
Maharashtra CET Cell Extends Registration Deadline For LLB, B Ed- M Ed, And B P Ed Courses To February 28
Pune, February 13, 2026: The State Common Entrance Test Cell has pushed the registration deadline for MHT CET 2026 to February 20 for the 2026–27 academic session. The extension covers candidates applying for the PCM and PCB streams as well as the MBA/MMS entrance test.
The examination is conducted for admission to professional programmes such as engineering, technology, pharmacy, planning and agricultural courses offered across Maharashtra. The application process, which began on January 10 and was earlier scheduled to close on February 12, will now remain open for additional days on the official portal.
A key update this year is the introduction of two attempts for candidates appearing in the PCM, PCB and MBA/MMS CET exams. This initiative has been rolled out for the first time following directions from Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. The move is intended to align the state-level entrance test format with national exams like JEE Main, which allow multiple attempts in a year.
According to figures shared by the CET Cell, around 11.25 lakh students are expected to take the exams across all streams. Of these, over 7.34 lakh candidates have registered for the first attempt only, while approximately 3.90 lakh have opted to appear in both sessions.
In the PCM stream, more than 4.12 lakh students have signed up for the initial attempt and about 2.64 lakh have chosen both attempts. For the PCB group, over 2.33 lakh candidates registered for the first session, with around 90,800 selecting the two-attempt option. In the MBA/MMS category, close to 88,400 applicants will appear in the first round, while nearly 35,800 have opted for both chances.
The CET Cell has clarified that appearing in the first attempt is compulsory. Students who wish to take the second attempt must indicate their preference while filling out the form, as changes will not be permitted later. For those who sit for both sessions, the better score will be considered during the admission process.
