Pune : Model Colony Parisar Sudharna Samiti Celebrates 33rd Foundation Day on Republic Day
The 33rd Foundation Day event of Model Colony Parisar Sudharna Samiti took place on Republic Day i.e. January 26 (Friday) at Model Colony Lake Bio-reserve.
As per information shared by Model Colony Parisar Sudharna Samiti, It is one of the oldest Samitis, a group of like-minded residents formed to raise and resolve issues of the neighbourhood. They have done ground-breaking work such as converting the quarry into a lake in Model Colony, various programs regarding water conservation, roads, etc.
The Samiti conducts its Foundation Day & Republic Day events every year near the Model Colony Lake. For the events, they tried to bring in several people from the government along with the people of Model Colony so that there could be a partnership between the people & the government to bring about positive changes.
The 33rd Foundation Day began at 4:30 pm on 26th January with the performance of a certified violinist Rama Choubey & her disciples.
The Samiti also published its magazine 24 Years of Sahajeevan. The report of all the works done & achievements of last year by the Samiti was read.
A unique activity done by the Samiti was to felicitate common people as well as people from the government who have done tremendous work but do not get any recognition. Shyamala Desai, President of National Societies for Clean Cities, was given a Lifetime Achievement award.
The event concluded at 6:30 pm with a rendition from singer Meena Joglekar. Around 100 people were present for the Foundation Day event.
