Pune: Mohol Assigned Kasba, Parvati, And Pune Cantonment; Munde Takes Charge Of Shivajinagar, Vadgaon Sheri, And Kothrud Constituencies
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections by designating Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol and MLC Pankaja Munde to oversee six assembly constituencies in Pune Lok Sabha (LS) constituency. Mohol will manage Kasba, Parvati, and Pune Cantonment constituencies, while Munde will handle Shivajinagar, Vadgaon Sheri, and Kothrud. Mohol has already held meetings for Kasba and Parvati, focusing on booth-level performance and voting patterns. Munde is scheduled to begin meetings in the coming days for her constituencies. The leaders aim to identify areas where the party underperformed in the LS elections. Their findings will be compiled into a report for the state BJP to shape their assembly election strategy.
Dheeraj Ghate, BJP city unit president, noted that Mohol and Munde are tasked with overseeing the Pune LS constituencies. Hadapsar and Khadakwasla, part of Pune Rural, have not yet had their assignments confirmed.
In the recent LS elections, BJP saw a significant drop in seats from 23 to nine, prompting concern among party MLAs. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the BJP aims to form a grand coalition government and needs to secure as many MLA seats as possible.
Munde’s role is particularly strategic for Vadgaon Sheri, where former MLA Jagdish Mulik hopes for a ticket. Current MLA Sunil Tingre of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP is the sitting representative. Mulik’s close ties with Devendra Fadnavis could influence the ticket decision, despite having lost the seat five years ago
