A lot of hyacinth has been accumulating in Mula-Mutha river in several Pune areas like Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa, Kharadi and many more. Citizens have actively tweeted about this, demanding immediate resolution from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on X platform.

As per further information from the X handle of user Nishant Mistry “Miles of hyacinth. Home to billions of mosquitos. Inviting Chikungunya, Malaria, Dengue etc. Please help the citizens of Pune. Areas impacted : Keshav Nagar, Kharadi.”

Citizens & X users have actively commented on this.

An X user says “A 2 bhk costs over a crore which is river facing . Hyacinth facing expensive RE.”

Another X user tweets “As no local election for 3-4 years, we don’t really have local councillors where this issue could be raised.”

Another X user comments “Please look into this matter.”

Another X user said “The PMC is making Pune greener at the wrong place!”

Mangesh Dighe, Environmental Conservation Officer, PMC, said “Already, the required machinery is deployed at the Mula Mutha river to clean the hyacinth & most of it has been cleaned. Only some portion near Mundhwa bridge is remaining where water hyacinth will be removed in 2 to 3 days.”

An X user tweeted “It’s a menace. PMC, urgent attention is needed. We have been living through this for months together.”

Another X user commented “Again hyacinth has covered the whole water body, only one boat and one crane can’t remove it. Request to deploy many manpower to remove it.”

The PMC has responded to this through X “Sir/Madam, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. Your complaint is in process and will be resolved at the earliest. Thank you.”
