Pune: Summer vacation has started, causing an increase in traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. To handle traffic issues on expressways, state highway police have decided to implement ;Golden Hour’ initiative at expressways.

According to police, due to the constant traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, it has become difficult for drivers to handle the situation. In response, the police have decided to implement measures to ease the traffic flow. One such measure is the implementation of a “Golden Hours” system for heavy vehicles.

Under this, heavy vehicles will only be allowed to travel on the expressway from 10 PM to 5 AM. During the day, entry to these heavy vehicles is not allowed on the expressway and drivers have to park their heavy vehicles at the shoulder line.

Lata Phad, Supredintendent of Police said, “There is road construction work going in Thane area, hence as per their request, we are not allowing entry to heavy vehicles during day time. This will helps to reduce further traffic jam in that particular area.’’

Additionally, the police are working to reduce the number of heavy vehicles on the road by cracking down on overloaded vehicles and blocking vehicles in certain areas to ease traffic congestion.

The police have urged all drivers to cooperate with the new measures to ensure smooth traffic flow on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Further details regarding the implementation of these measures are yet to be released.
