Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale was admitted to a private hospital earlier this week after he showed symptoms resembling dengue fever, although his blood test results have returned negative for the vector-borne disease. Officials confirmed today that Bhosale’s condition is stable and he is being treated for a viral flu-like illness.

A senior health official stated, “The municipal commissioner complained of fever, chills, and body aches, leading to his admission to a private facility. Blood samples were tested for Dengue IgM and IgG antibodies, which came negative for vector-borne diseases. We suspect a viral infection as the likely cause of his illness.”

Following the diagnosis, a team from the Pune Municipal Corporation conducted fogging operations around Bhosale’s official residence near Chittaranjan Vatika Garden in Model Colony as a precautionary measure.

Bhosale has been an instrumental figure in managing civic affairs in Pune, overseeing various initiatives and projects aimed at improving public infrastructure and services. His hospitalization has raised concerns among city officials and residents alike, highlighting the ongoing health challenges faced during the monsoon season.

The Pune Municipal Corporation assured that necessary precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in the area, with continued efforts in sanitation and vector control measures.
