Pune Municipal Corporation Hosts 30th Fort Competition and Exhibition 2024 At Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Udyan
Since 1992, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Garden Department and Tree Authority have organized a Fort Competition in celebration of Diwali. Due to increasing urbanization and changes in lifestyle, children have limited space to create forts. This competition aims to provide children with the opportunity to study and appreciate our invaluable forts, foster interest in history and geography, and encourage creativity among school students.
This year, the 30th Fort Competition and Exhibition is held from October 28, 2024, to November 6, 2024, at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Park, Jungli Maharaj Road, Shivajinagar, Pune. The competition is divided into three categories.

A total of 49 participants are competing this year. The forts created in the competition are being judged by experts in history and geography: Jagjivan Kale, Kailas Chaudhary, Mayuresh Lavhe, Prasad Pawar, Amol Unecha, Mahesh Shinde, Sanjay Salunke, and Milind Ambike.
The winners of the competition will receive cash prizes: ₹5,001 for first place, ₹3,001 for second place, ₹2,001 for third place, and ₹7,001 for the best fort. The award ceremony will be conducted by Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Municipal Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation. Notable attendees will include former Additional Municipal Commissioner Dyaneshwar Molak, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kadam, geography expert Dr. Suresh Garsole, and others.
Replicas of several historic forts such as Janjira, Baankot, Ravdurg, Raigad, Naldurg, Vijaydurg, Hadsar, Padmadurg, Ajinkya Tara, Shivneri, Panhala, Devgad, Salher, Purandar, Kulaba, Rajgad, Sinhagad, Pratapgad, Lohgad, and Sindhudurg have been created for the competition. The exhibition will also showcase various forts from Maharashtra, which citizens can explore.
Visitors can find maps of the forts, slogans related to the forts and the environment, and other informative materials during the exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from October 28, 2024, at 4:00 PM until November 6, 2024. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
