Pune : Name Chandani chowk flyover after freedom fighter Senapati Bapat ; Supriya Sule

Pune : Member of Parliament from Baramati Constituency Supriya Sule demanded that the National Highways Authority of India name a flyover at Chandani chowk after freedom fighter Senapati Bapat. 

The flyover is undergoing construction and shall be opened soon. In her letter, she said, “The contribution of Pandurang Mahadeo Bapat and his satyagraha of Mulshi have been of great importance for Maharashtra. If the flyover is named after him, the landmark agitation and Bapat’s relentless work will be remembered by everyone.” 

The Mulshi satyagraha was held in 1920 and is reportedly the first organised struggle of the farmers. The road work at Chandani chowk will ease the traffic congestion in the area.
