Pune-Nashik Highway Elevated Corridor To Drop Travel Time From Two Hours To Just 20 Minutes
Pune, August 25, 2025: Travel between Pune and Nashik is set to become significantly faster, with a new elevated corridor reducing the journey to just 20 minutes. Land acquisition work for the project has already begun, promising a major relief from traffic congestion.
Project Details
The elevated corridor will stretch over 28 km from Nashik Phata to Rajgurunagar (Khed) along National Highway 60. Currently, the journey takes 1.5 to 2 hours, but the new route will cut travel time drastically.
To build access ramps for the corridor, land surveys and acquisition are being carried out in villages including Nanekarwadi, Medankarwadi, Waki Khurd, Waki Budruk, Chimbali, Kuruli, and Chakan. Additionally, to ease congestion in Chakan, land from Medankarwadi, Kadachi Wadi, Nanekarwadi, and Kharabwadi will be used to construct alternate bypass roads.
Broader Infrastructure Development
Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase has instructed immediate surveys and land acquisition for various proposed road widening projects to tackle city traffic issues.
Key areas under review include Balewadi to Shedge Vasti, Surya Hospital to Thakar Vasti, and Nande-Man Road. Plans for the Ring Road project are also progressing in phases, with surveys and land acquisition nearing completion in several stretches.
A joint review meeting was held at PMRDA’s Aundh office, attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, and senior officials from NHAI, PWD, and PMC.
