Pimpri, November 21, 2025: A major step towards improving the water supply network in Wakad was achieved on Friday with the inauguration of a newly constructed 25-lakh-litre elevated water tank at Kaverinagar. The project, developed by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), is expected to streamline water distribution across several residential pockets in the area.

The water tank, built at a cost of ₹5.85 crore under PCMC’s Water Supply Department, was inaugurated by MLA Shankar Jagtap. From today, water supply from the new tank has officially begun. Jagtap said the facility will ensure reliable water flow to Kasptavasti, Pink City Road, Venu Nagar, Kaverinagar, Police Colony, Datta Mandir Road and surrounding housing societies.

The inauguration was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, former Standing Committee Chairperson Mamta Gaikwad, former corporator Vinayak Gaikwad, Sandeep Kasapte, Aarti Choundhe, Chief Engineer Pramod Ombhase, Assistant City Engineer Ajay Suryavanshi, Anil Bhalsakhle, Regional Officer Ashwini Bhosale, Executive Engineer Mahesh Baride, Mahesh Kawale, Hemant Desai, Public Relations Officer Prafulla Puranik, Deputy Engineer Pravin Dhumal and several civic officers, engineers, social workers, senior citizens and local residents.

MLA Jagtap said PCMC has consistently undertaken high-quality infrastructure work to meet the demands of a rapidly growing population. With Pimpri Chinchwad’s population nearing 35 lakh, he stressed the need for robust water infrastructure. The state government, he assured, will be urged to extend necessary support to PCMC for future water projects.

New Pump House Installed
To ensure uninterrupted filling of the tank, PCMC’s Electrical Department has set up a new pump house at Kaverinagar. The facility includes two 50 HP working pumps and one standby pump, enabling the tank to be filled within six hours. A 200 KVA independent power supply has also been sanctioned, along with a dedicated 200 KVA transformer and two RMUs for high-voltage control.

The programme was compered by Prafulla Puranik, with a welcome address by Pravin Dhumal. Chief Engineer Pramod Ombhase proposed the vote of thanks.
