Pune News: 1560 cases of conjunctivitis among kids reported in Alandi

Pune: The cases of conjunctivitis are on the rise among children in Alandi raising concerns among the people. 

 As per information, an Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) alert has come in which 1560 cases of Conjunctivitis have been detected in Alandi alone.

In the last 4 days, the number of children found suffering from conjunctivitis are as follows:

450 cases were detected on Monday (July 17)

740 cases were detected on Tuesday (July 18)

210 cases were detected on Wednesday (July 19)

160 cases were detected on Thursday (July 20)

A team of NIV will visit Alandi along with a civil surgeon to check this outbreak of Conjunctivitis.

All the following precautionary measures have been taken to prevent further outbreaks:

1. If the number of new cases detected does not decrease, a proposal will be sent to shut down schools 

2. Pimpri Chinchwad and adjoining gram panchayats have also been asked to inspect all houses.

3. Two Ophthalmologists have been appointed in Alandi Rural Hospital.

4. A separate OPD is kept for patients

5. Medicine and eye drops are given to all.

6. Case papers are given free to all children.

7. Heads of institutions have been requested to send children back to their homes

8. Screening and school visits are going on.
