Pune News : 59 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalays come under National Education Policy 2020 in Pune

A Press Conference was organized jointly by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, R.O. Pune, Regional Office, CBSE Pune, State Council of Educational Research And Training, Pune (SCERT) and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pune to highlight various aspects of National Education Policy ( NEP) 2020  

B. Venkateswaran, Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Pune highlighted on some of the main achievements of Ministry of Education in implementing NEP 2020 that are PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) in which 14500 schools in the country in 1st phase has been initiated. In NVS Pune out of 73 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalays  59 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalays  come under this flagship program. 

National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) – The vision of NDEAR is to create unifying national digital infrastructure to energize and catalyze the education ecosystem which is also a flagship program by the Ministry.  

NIPUN BHARAT- National Mission on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (NIPUR BHARAT) launched on 5th July 2021. Recently G-20 meet organized in Pune in connection with Foundational Literacy and Numeracy by the Ministry.

Vidyanjali portal has been launched by MoE which entails public to help schools by way of human resources and creation of assets for their choice of institutions. 

National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF FS) is launched on 20th October, 2022 is the first ever integrated Curriculum Framework for children between ages 3-8 in India. 

Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) – four year integrated teacher education program has been introduced from this academic year 2023-24 in Central / State / institutions which include IITs NITs, RIEs and Govt. Colleges.     

Further, B. Venkateswaran said that, NVS RO Pune has 73 JNVs in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa & UTs. All the JNVs have been implementing NEP-2020 in school education as per the directives of Ministry of Education, Department of School Education through NVS Hqrs. Noida. Competency Based Education as spelt out in NEP is implemented on day to day basis in the teaching learning process preparing the students for 21st century skills like creative thinking, critical thinking, problem solving, out of box thinking, higher order thinking skills with different pedagogies   integrating sports education, art education, toy based, storytelling etc. giving emphasis on experiential learning and experimental learning. JNVs with migration policy, students migrate from Hindi speaking to non-Hindi speaking areas and vice-a-versa getting exposed on different Regional Languages as NEP promotes the same. Three language formula has been followed in JNVs and multilingualism is also encouraged as per NEP. NVS has established Navodaya Leadership Institutes (NLI) exclusively for empowering the teachers through practical training in implementing NEP in adopting different methodologies.

 Ram Veer, Regional Officer, CBSE Regional Office, Pune and Head CBSE CoE, Pune  Shweta Moon highlighted on the major achievement of the activities implemented based on the recommendation of National Education Policy, 2020 which includes Vidya Pravesh -school preparation module for Grade 1 teachers to ensure that all the children are exposed to a warm and welcoming environment, Holistic Progress card initiative which is at the pilot stage to assess 360 degree progress of the school children, PM-e Vidya initiative which enable coherent multimode access to education etc. Further, Shri Ram Veer announced the launch of “One Child, one Plant Campaign” to commemorate 3rd anniversary of NEP, 2020 to promote environmental education and sensitivity towards its conservation and sustainable development.

Dr. Neha Belsare, Deputy Director, SCERT, Pune informed that NEP -2020 has been adopted as per the state education policy and different committees to introduce state education policy in tune with NEP 2020. There are different initiatives taken up by the State Education Department as per the directives of SCERT. 50 tasks have been mapped as completed across State (36 Tasks) and Central Departments (14 tasks). There are 221 Tasks that need to be completed before or by 2024.

Some of the completed state tasks are as follows:

  • 25 Positon Papers on various topics mentioned by NCERT. 
  • Guidelines for AW integration with primary schools (pedagogical linkage of Anganwadis)
  • Capacity building of teachers for FLN for the academic year of 2022-23
  • SCERT adopts/adapts 3- month module (Vidya Pravesh)
  • 1000 E-content Videos for FLN have been uploaded on DIKSHA Platform

Principals, Kendriya Vidyalayas No. 1 & 2 AFS informed that FLN has been implemented in letter and spirit in Kendriya Vidyalayas as NCF FS. She also informed that play way and activity oriented methods are used for joyful learning.
