Pune News : Alarm Raised Over Polluted Water Entering Into Khadakwasla Dam

Pune: Ramesh Chavan, Chief Executive Officer, Pune Zilla Parishad, inspected the problem of sewage and garbage in villages such as Gorhe Budruk, Khanapur, Vardade, Sonapur, and Panshet.

This inspection was prompted by a memorandum submitted by the directors of Pune District Central Cooperative Bank and former corporators Vikas Dangat and Pravin Shinde to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, demanding action to address the pollution of the Khadakwasla dam.

As per information, the sewage and waste from villages in Haveli and Velhe talukas, which are located adjacent to the Khadakwasla dam, are directly mixing with the water of the dam. A recent physical inspection has revealed the severity of this issue.

Chavan has announced that a joint review meeting will be conducted with officials from all relevant departments. A report will be prepared and submitted to the government for immediate action. The sewage and waste from hotels, farmhouses, resorts, and companies in Gorhe Budruk, Donje, Gorhe Khurd, Khanapur, Malkhed, Vardade, Nigde, Osade, Ambi, Sonapur, Panshet, Kudje, Agalambe, Khadakwadi, Sangrun, Bahuli, Mandvi, and other nearby villages, which are situated adjacent to the Khadakwasla dam, are directly entering the dam. 

As per the information received, Vikas Dangat, Dattatray Paigude, former Sarpanch of Gorhe Khurd, Sharad Jawalkar, Narayan Jawalkar, Sushant Khirid, and Narendra Khirid and others were present.
