Pune: A cargo State Transport bus, which was going to carry out repair works of another ST bus met with an accident at the Kurkumbh (Taluka Daund) ghat on Sunday. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of the vehicles in Kurkumbh Ghat region again. As per information, the bus left the road and fell into a big ditch. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the incident.

A passenger ST bus had broken down nearby. Hence, for the repair of that bus, the Daund depot freight ST bus (MH 14 BT 0698), along with the repair material, a driver and a mechanic had left from Daund towards Kurkumbh on it’s way towards Kurkumbh ghat, the bus due to the absence of guardrail suddenly left the road and got stuck in a big ditch. The driver and the mechanic did not suffer any injuries and are safe.

It is worthy to note that in the Kurkumbh Ghat section, there are no safety rails/ barricades on the sides of the road. A lot of accidents have occured in this section. Had the accident occurred in the ghat with a passenger bus, it would have been a major accident.
