Pune News : Couple on bike run over by dumper in Wagholi

Pune: On Wednesday, a tragic incident took place at the Kesnand phata in Wagholi, where a couple was crushed to death under a dumper truck. The couple was riding on a two-wheeler when the dumper truck hit them from behind, resulting in the tragic accident.

The deceased have been identified as Ashok Martand Kale and wife Varsha Ashok Kale, who were residents of the Kasaba area. The couple was on their way to agricultural works when the incident occurred.

According to police, the dumper truck was speeding and lost control, hitting the two-wheeler from behind. The impact was so strong that the couple was crushed under the dumper truck and dragged for a few meters as a result of which they died. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Upon receiving information, the police and emergency services rushed to the spot. The bodies were recovered from under the dumper truck and sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. The process of registering a case  against the driver of the dumper truck is going on. 

 The incident has also raised questions about the safety of two-wheelers on the roads and the need for stricter regulations to ensure the safety of commuters.

Locals alleged that, many times they have demanded a ban of heavy vehicles in this particular stretch during morning hours. Even after repetitive demands to ban heavy vehicles police authorities turned blind eyes towards this issue.
