Pune News: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Reviews Proposed Civic Infrastructure Projects In Tathawade
Mumbai, July 23: To accommodate the growing population in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the municipal corporation to acquire land from the Animal Husbandry Department by compensating for it. This land in Tathawade is intended for the development of a Spine road, a sewage treatment plant (STP), and other civic amenities.
During a meeting held at his committee chamber in the ministry, Pawar reviewed the progress of these projects. Present at the meeting were Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Animal Husbandry; Dr. K.H. Govindrajan, Principal Secretary of Urban Development; Chandrakant Pulakundwar, Divisional Commissioner of Pune; and Dr. Shitalkumar Mukane, CEO of the Livestock Development Board. Also participating via video conference were Pune District Collector Suhas Divse, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and Animal Husbandry Commissioner Kaustubh Divegaonkar.
Ajit Pawar emphasized the rapid population growth in the Tathawade area and the need for proper urban planning. With various industries and new IT companies setting up in the region, the proposed spine road and sewage treatment plant will cater to these demands. The land in Tathawade has been included in the city’s development plan and has been earmarked for civic amenities.
He further directed that the proposal for land transfer be submitted promptly to the Animal Husbandry Department, which will evaluate the land’s value and determine compensation. The municipal corporation is expected to expedite the acquisition process to start the road construction and the STP project without delay.
Highlighting the traffic congestion issues faced by residents, Pawar mentioned the proposal for a 45-meter spine road from Walhekarwadi Chowk to Dairy Farm Chowk on Aundh-Ravet Road, extending to Tathawade. Additionally, a 20 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant is planned for the area, with provisions for future capacity expansion. To accommodate these projects, a proposal for 13 acres of land has been made, with potential for area expansion as needed.
Ajit Pawar concluded by instructing the municipal corporation to prepare a detailed usage plan for the acquired land and to submit a new proposal reflecting any necessary expansions.
