Pune: The resident of Dreams Estate Society, Handewadi, Hadapsar are in distress as the society committee as well as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have sent a notice to them regarding the removal of balcony extensions. However, the residents say that the size of balconies are the same since they purchased the flats.

As per information, the PMC has sent notice to a flat owner in B Building in Dreams Estate Society, Handewadi, Hadapsar regarding the removal of balcony extensions. However, the flat owner alleges that the flat which she bought in 2020 already had balcony extensions. After purchasing the flat, she had not made any alterations or additions to the flat. However, a resident & the ex-secretary of the society and the current society committee member are repeatedly sending the flat owner notices and even harassing them.

A resident has also alleged that there are about 10 more flats where the altercations have been conducted but no action has been taken against the other members. Why are we singled out, questioned the flat owner.

The ex-secretary & resident of Dreams Estate Society, Hadapsar said, “I live in the flat above the flat which has had altercations. They have an extended balcony which is against the society’s rules. Hence, I complained about this to the PMC.

Another member of the administrative committee, Dreams Estate Society, Hadapsar said, “The owner of the flat in B building has extended its balcony space and is using it as a room. This is against the existing laws and regulations. PMC knows this and has warned the society of levying heavy fines if this extension is not removed immediately. Hence, we have sent notices to the flat owner but are yet to receive any response from the flat owner.”

Pune Pulse tried to contact the relevant PMC official but couldn’t connect.
