Pune: More than 100 passengers scheduled to board a SpiceJet flight on Wednesday from Pune airport to Dubai were kept waiting for more than ten hours for a trip that typically takes about two hours. Regular travellers also reported that, in recent years, delays with the only direct flight have become the norm.

As per information, the flight SG51 was scheduled to depart for Dubai at 8 pm. However, it did not take off until Thursday morning. The flight later took off at around 6. 20 a.m. on Thursday.

As per a passenger, he learned that the flight was delayed while he was at the departure gate. By now, a large number of passengers had already checked in. He got back home after waiting for a while. He drove to Mumbai early on Thursday morning and boarded an Emirates flight to Dubai at 10.45 a.m. The three-hour journey to the airport in Mumbai was completed. India to the USA can be reached in about 17 hours; however, it took him longer to get to Dubai.

On the same flight, a different passenger claimed that no ground crew member was aware of what was going on. The flight was continually being postponed. On Wednesday, he arrived at the airport at 3 p.m. He didn’t have the money to travel back home or take another flight from a different city. He had to wait for a total of about fifteen hours. Even though refreshments were offered, all they could do was wait. Imagine the situation of elderly people, families on vacation, etc. None of the passengers were granted access to the lounge either.

Another traveller complained that although there are other direct flights from Pune to the entire Middle East, passengers are stuck with the frequently delayed Dubai flight. Almost every day for the last ten days, the flight’s history shows that it was delayed by two or three hours. He chose to request a refund and return home on Wednesday because he was taking his mother on a trip. He is now scheduled to fly on Friday from Mumbai to Dubai.
