Pune News: Free and Discounted Cancer Treatments Announced By Rugna Hakka Parishad
Pune: Due to changing environmental conditions and unnatural lifestyles, the number of cancer patients in Maharashtra is rapidly increasing. Expensive treatments have devastated many families and left them burdened with debt. To provide relief and support to patients and their families, the Rugna Hakka Parishad Maharashtra has launched the ‘Cancer-Free Maharashtra’ campaign. Under this initiative, expensive cancer treatments will be provided free of cost, shared Umesh Chavan, the founder and president of the Rugna Hakka Parishad, during a press conference. Present at the event were Dr. Smita Bhoyar, CEO of Universal Hospital; Dr. Amol Devlekar, Director of Hope Hospital and Cancer Center; Milind Gaikwad, former Assistant Police Commissioner and Central Advisor to the Council; Aparna Marne Sathe, Pune City President of the Council; and Amol Hulawale.
Umesh Chavan stated, “Currently, there is a significant rise in breast and cervical cancer cases among women. Cases of oral, tongue, blood, brain, ovarian, and skin cancer are also increasing. Additionally, lumps appearing in various parts of the body are being diagnosed as cancerous. At present, thousands of patients in Pune are undergoing cancer treatments. Many patients face financial hardships, leading to debt. Families often have to sell vehicles, jewelry, and even their homes to afford treatments. Considering this dire situation, this campaign has been initiated.”
“Treatments like chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgeries, radiation, essential medications, and injections for cancer cost lakhs of rupees. These treatments are unaffordable for the common person. Through the Cancer-Free Maharashtra campaign, chemotherapy and surgeries for cancer will be made entirely free under government schemes. Free treatment facilities will be available at Universal Hospital near Shaniwarwada and Hope Hospital and Cancer Center in Nana Peth, Pune. For more information, patients and their families can contact 9850002207,” appealed Umesh Chavan.
