Pune FDA Suspends Licences Of 12 Hotels, Restaurants And Bakeries; Banned Food Worth ₹3.48 Lakh Seized
Pune, July 22, 2026: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Pune Division, has suspended the licences and registrations of 12 hotels, restaurants and bakeries across Pune and Satara districts for serious violations of food safety and hygiene standards.
The action was carried out under the ‘Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign launched by Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.
According to the FDA, surprise inspections were conducted on July 18 and July 21, 2026, during which officials found widespread unhygienic conditions, storage of expired food items, and multiple violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The establishments whose licences were immediately suspended include:
- Joker Hospitality, Balewadi, Pune
- Red & Hues, Kalyani Nagar, Pune
- Tony Da Dhaba, Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, Naigaon, Kamshet, Maval
- Hotel Lokpriya, Market Yard, Pune
- Fountain Pure Veg, Alephata, Junnar
- K.M. Foods, Bhamburwadi, Khed
- Aksa Bakery, Adarsh Nagar, Pune
- Jai Sadguru Irani Tea & Snacks Centre, Market Yard, Pune
- Foclo Technology Pvt. Ltd., Bavdhan
- Swiinsta Ent Pvt. Ltd., Aundh
- Shalimar Udupi Veg Restaurant, Vaduj, Satara
- Surabhi Hotel & Bar, Vaduj, Satara
FDA officials said inspections of hotels, restaurants and bakeries will continue, and strict action will be taken against businesses failing to comply with hygiene and food safety regulations.
The department has also directed all food business operators to provide free safe drinking water to customers, use only food-grade packaging materials, avoid operating without a valid licence, refrain from reusing cooking oil, and ensure that menu cards do not contain misleading information.

Crackdown on Banned Food Products
In a separate enforcement drive conducted between July 16 and July 21, 2026, the FDA inspected three establishments in Chinchwad (Pune), Pandharpur, and Vaduj (Satara). Officials seized banned food products worth ₹3,48,078 from the premises.
Cases have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the respective police stations, and five persons have been arrested in connection with the violations.
The FDA stated that such enforcement drives will continue across Maharashtra to ensure compliance with food safety laws and protect public health.
