Pune: The State government has sent a letter to the Municipal Corporation requesting their feedback on the inclusion of seven Cantonment Boards.

The government had previously sent letters dated May 23, 2022 and December 27, 2022, listing the seven Cantonment Boards in question as Pune Cantonment Board, Khadki Cantonment Board, Dehu Cantonment Board, Deolali Cantonment Board, Ahmednagar Cantonment Board, Aurangabad Cantonment Board, and Kamathi Cantonment Board.

In the letter written by Sushila Pawar, Deputy secretary, Maharashtra Government to Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, states that the Municipal Corporation has been asked to provide their clear opinion on whether or how the seven Cantonment Boards should be included in their area, as well as the current area and population of the Cantonment Boards.

The Municipal Corporation has also been asked to provide information on how their area and population would improve if the Cantonment Boards were included.

Despite the government’s request for feedback, they have yet to receive a response from the Municipal Corporation. The delay has caused concern among government officials, who are eager to move forward with the inclusion of the Cantonment Boards.

It is requested that the Municipal Corporation submit their feedback to the government immediately via email, providing detailed information on the matter, the letter stated.
