Hadapsar : Residents of Hadapsar, a suburb located in the eastern part of Pune, have demanded a separate Municipal Corporation citing lack of basic amenities provided by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The demand comes after the state government recently announced a separate Municipal Council for Uruli Devachi and Fursungi.
The Maharashtra state government has asked the Pune Municipal Corporation for its say on the formation of a separate municipal corporation for Wagholi-Hadapsar or even a separate municipal council for Wagholi.

Chandrakant Patil, Pune district guardian minister in the last week of December 2022 in a letter written to the Chief Minister (CM) Eknath Shinde had asked for the formation of a new municipal corporation for the eastern part of the city.

Chetan Tupe, the MLA of Hadapsar constituency, has been raising this issue in the Vidhan Sabha.

Tupe said, “As the residents of these villages are expressing rage over the Pune Municipal Corporation for not providing the necessary amenities. The other parts of the city get adequate water supply whereas residents of these villages are facing a water crisis. On the other hand, all the garbage dumping projects are in Hadapsar. We are not getting the expected response from PMC, and therefore, we want a separate Municipal Corporation.”

The villages that would be a part of the proposed Municipal Corporation may include Hadapsar, Undri, Pisoli, Wagholi, Loni Kalbhor, Manjri, Keshav Nagar, Wadgaon Sheri, and others. There are no confirmations yet on this.

The residents have been complaining about the lack of proper water supply and garbage disposal facilities for a long time, road infrastructure and basic amenities. They feel that a separate Municipal Corporation will enable them to get better governance and amenities. The demand has been supported by several local leaders.
