Pune News: Hinjawadi IT Employees Submit 23,000+ Signature Petition To MLC Gorkhe, Demand Urgent Infrastructure Fixes
Pune, July 2, 2025: In a growing citizen-led campaign, IT professionals working at Hinjawadi IT Park have intensified their demand for improved infrastructure and traffic solutions by submitting a hard copy of the online petition — #UnclogHinjawadiITPark— to MLC Amit Gorkhe. The petition, launched just a week ago on Change.org, has already crossed 23,000 signatures and continues to gain traction.
A delegation of IT employees met MLC Gorkhe, who represents the PCMC region, to present their grievances in person. The majority of Hinjawadi’s workforce resides in either the PCMC or PMC areas, making the issue a pressing concern for both municipal jurisdictions.
During the focused discussion, the IT professionals highlighted several key concerns:
* Poor condition of roads in Hinjawadi Phase 1, 2, and 3, especially during the monsoon, leading to severe waterlogging and muddy, unsafe walkways.
* Daily traffic congestion making commutes unmanageable.
* Lack of basic pedestrian infrastructure forcing employees to wade through slush to reach their offices.
Supporting the petitioners’ cause, MLC Gorkhe attentively listened to the group’s concerns and assured that key traffic and road infrastructure issues will be addressed within 30 to 60 days. He further committed to raising the matter during the upcoming Monsoon Session in Mumbai’s Vidhan Bhavan starting June 30.
In addition to immediate solutions, the delegation also proposed long-term measures, including the merger of Hinjawadi into the PCMC municipal limits and the creation of a dedicated Software and IT Park Ministry to exclusively handle IT corridor challenges and expansion plans. MLC Gorkhe responded positively and assured his backing for both proposals.
Petitioner Sachin Londhe, who represented the IT workforce, thanked Gorkhe for his support. The group also submitted supporting visuals — images and videos of recent waterlogged streets — to reinforce the urgency of their concerns.
The campaign represents a collective voice of Hinjawadi’s tech community pushing for lasting change to support both current needs and India’s 5 trillion-dollar economic vision.
