Of the two lakh housing societies in the state, the majority of the representatives do not know the fire safety regulations and have not designated any agency to inspect their devices.

In Maharashtra, housing societies and other structures will soon have the option of online submitting the required fire safety maintenance report. The Maharashtra Housing Federation thinks that this will make things easier.

The development was verified by the state director of fire services, S. S. Warick, who also declared that housing societies need to provide a fire safety system maintenance certificate (also known as “Form B”) from a licenced agency approved by the govt of Maharashtra. All fire safety systems must be certified as maintained and in good working condition.

According to the officials, housing societies shall submit reports through fire safety companies licenced by the relevant fire service station twice a year in January and June regarding the maintenance of fire safety devices.

Devendra Potphode, Fire Chief Officer of PMC stated, “Either the developer or the society committee, be it residential or commercial, have to make sure that they submit the maintenance of their installed fire systems through the licensed agencies. If not, once the systems are operative, they don’t have to physically come to the fire dept office and get the form. Now you can simply avail the form from your agency and mail it to us. This is convenient for the citizens and also eases the process of tracking the database for us.”

Citizens can mail on the below mentioned email id:
