Pune: The everyday commuters and people from Kondhwa are worried as there are no proper roads and no control over traffic in the area of Khadi Machine Chowk.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Juzer Poonawala, Resident, Supreme Greenwood, NIBM Road said, “Road from Somji Bus Stop to Khadi Machine Chowk is in a very poor condition as the entire road is filled with potholes and obstacles. The divider is also broken for a long time. As a result, the riders are forced to drive on the wrong side of the road. The entire route is only 500 m long. Still, it takes around 30 to 45 minutes to cross this. My office is on this path. So, despite being a senior citizen, I have to travel to my office every day in such conditions which leads to health issues. Traffic police should stop all kinds of 4 wheeler & heavy vehicles on this route as it is a very narrow road & it creates a huge traffic bottleneck. The traffic warden is present there, however, he just stands as a mute spectator and does nothing.”

Eijazkhan Shiledar, Assistant Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police Station said, “As of now, there are 5 traffic wardens in the area from Khadi Machine Chowk to Shatrunjay Temple in Kondhwa. However, due to the number of vehicles coming from other sides like Undri, Katraj side etc, only 5 wardens aren’t enough. Also, since the road is so narrow, even if one vehicle is stopped for enquiry, the entire road gets blocked. Still, we are trying our best every day to manage the entire traffic.”
