The residents of Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, Wadgaonsheri and Mundhwa have been facing severe inconvenience because of the loud noise coming from the eateries located in the area. Despite raising the issues with the administration of various government agencies, there seems to be no result which has provided them relief. Irked by the inconvenience, the residents recently met Pune Municipal Corporation additional commissioner Ravindra Binawade and apprised him of the pain the residents go into everyday.

The residents in their letter explained the ordeal each area has to undergo throughout the day.

1) The nightclubs play loud music from 10 pm till morning 5 am and disturb the residents. Senior citizens, patients and kids are impacted badly and are experiencing health hazards like stress, anxiety, headache/migraine, depression etc.

2)  The existing nightclubs in Kalyani Nagar have violated the official deadline of operation and continued to operate till 5 am.

3) There are restaurants and pubs which are operating without parking space and this has led to traffic chaos in the area causing inconvenience to the residents.

4) No objection certificates from the nearby societies have not been obtained and the nightclubs were still granted permission.

5) Women safety is a big concern as the customers from restaurants leave are high/ have consumed alcohol this results in inviting all anti-social elements.

6) People leave the nightclubs at once causing rush and continuous honking on the road disturbing the sleep of residents and have further harassed our residents.

7) Almost all the nightclubs/pubs/restaurants which were granted permission to operate have violated various laws resulting in miserable lives of the residents.

8) The residents have complained to the police as well as PMC to take strict action against the restaurants but no permanent solution was provided. Residents seek cooperation from all concerned departments involved in granting of license to the nightclubs/pubs/open air lounges and NOT to issue the same any further.

Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN) stated that their pleas have gone deaf ears it seems. Hence, they decided to approach the higher authorities. We want to see results in the coming few days. These eateries cause noise problems but also affect the congestion. Haphazard parking and rash driving is amongst the other growing problems.

When Pune Pulse spoke to the senior official from Pune Municipal Corporation, he informed that after taking a survey, action will be initiated within two days.Â
