Pune: The residents of societies near D Mart to Punyadham Ashram on Kondhwa to Pisoli are concerned due to many large and deep potholes on the road which pose risks to the lives of the people. Due to the rainy season, a lot of water gets accumulated too. Hence, people tend to slip or fall while commuting. Even the commuters are having a difficult time driving on the road.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Adil Shaikh, resident of Prakriti Palladium Society, Kondhwa Budruk said, “ We have been facing this issue for the last one and a half years. We have complained to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) many times but it has fallen on deaf ears. We tried reaching out to the contractors but it was of no use. There are many cases of people slipping and falling on this stretch causing them injuries. It is a nightmare for senior citizens to drive on this road.”

Rashid Banedar, a resident of Prakriti Palladium Society, Kondhwa Budruk said, “In the rainy season, the street becomes a nightmare to travel as water gets accumulated in the large potholes. There have been many instances where people driving two-wheelers have slipped and fallen. Being a senior citizen myself, I have slipped and fallen on this road as it is difficult for me to swiftly drive around the deep potholes. Hence, the PMC must act on this immediately.”

Hajinayeem Shaikh, a resident of Notting Hill Society, Kondhwa Budruk said, “This is the only road which connects me to the city. There is no other alternative for me. As soon as the monsoon season arrives, the road becomes very difficult to drive. We have been facing this issue for one and a half years. The area has become prone to accidents. Hence, a permanent solution for this must be made immediately.”

Aslam Mirza, Resident of Notting Hill Society, Kondhwa Budruk said, “This deep pothole issue hasn’t been resolved yet. The PMC temporarily resolves it but again everything comes back to square one. A permanent solution must be implemented soon.”

Abdul Rehman Yaveri, Resident of Prakriti Palladium Society, Kondhwa Budruk said, “Driving on this road feels like we are riding a camel enduring unnecessary bumps & shocks. This is the only road connecting us to the city. Hence, the PMC must do something about this soon.”

Alamgir Jamadar, Head of Kondhwa Budruk Association, Pune said, “Rainwater drainage lines should be installed on the road as soon as possible. PMC should take immediate steps and resolve this. Arrangements should be made to drain the water accumulated here.”

Sidram Patil, Junior Engineer, PMC Kondhwa Budruk said, “As of now, there is no stormwater line. Hence, water gets accumulated here. We will soon establish a stormwater line here. Also, due to rain, the tarring of the potholes can’t be done as the water washes away the entire tar. Hence, after the rainy season stops, we will permanently repair the roads soon.”
