The online ticketing service of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) experienced outages, causing inconvenience to users who took to Twitter to express their frustration. Both the IRCTC website and mobile app were affected, leading to difficulties in booking train tickets.

In an official statement released by IRCTC, the disruption in service was attributed to technical reasons. The ticketing agency assured customers that their technical team was actively working to resolve the issue and promised to provide updates as soon as the problem was fixed.

Upon attempting to access the IRCTC website, users encountered a message stating, “DUE TO MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY E-TICKETING SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY LATER. FOR CANCELLATION/FILE TDR, PLEASE CALL AT CUSTOMER CARE NO. 14646, 0755-6610661 & 0755-4090600 OR MAIL AT [email protected]. An alternative of IRCTC to book train ticket.”

Many individuals shared screenshots of the error message on social media, expressing their frustration and disappointment with the service disruption. Some users reported multiple attempts to book tickets resulting in the deduction of payment but without successful bookings.

IRCTC acknowledged the issue and informed the public that they could use alternative B2C (business-to-consumer) platforms like Amazon and Makemytrip to book train tickets while the technical problem was being resolved.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to technical reasons. The ticketing service on the IRCTC site and app is currently unavailable. Our technical team at CRIS is actively addressing the issue. Meanwhile, we recommend using other B2C players like Amazon, Makemytrip, etc., for ticket bookings,” IRCTC tweeted.

Customers seeking urgent Tatkal bookings expressed their concerns on Twitter, urging IRCTC to expedite the resolution. The disruption inconvenienced many passengers who were attempting to secure their train travel plans promptly.

IRCTC’s technical team continues to work diligently to restore the service, and customers are advised to keep an eye on official updates for further information. The outage has highlighted the importance of maintaining robust and efficient online ticketing systems to cater to the high demand for train travel bookings.
