Pune News : Leopard’s body parts found at farmhouse near Khadakwasla seized

Pune: In a shocking incident, the forest officials in Pune conducted a raid in Mandvi Budruk near Khadakwasla dam and seized the body of a leopard that had been hunted and concealed in a farmhouse. Also, the team found paws and leopard claws hidden in a cupboard. It is worthy to note that hunting leopards is illegal and has led to the registration of a case under the wildlife protection act.

As per information, the team also inspected other places in the area. However, no other organs were found.

The forest department received a tip-off from the daughter of a famous hotelier in Pune about hunting a leopard and hiding its organs in the Shetty farmhouse in Mandvi Khurd village near Khadakwasla dam. As soon as the information was received, under the guidance of Mahadev Mohite, sub-conservator of the forest, Deepak Pawar, assistant conservator of forest, Pradeep Sankpal, Bhamburda forest range officer, Sachin Sankpal Donje forest range officer and their staff raided the farmhouse.

The names of the accused are Vishwajit Jadhav and Abhijit Jadhav. A case has been registered against them under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and the Indian Forest Act 1927. Both the accused are currently absconding.
