Pune News : Man commits suicide after losing money on online gaming

Pune: A 32-year-old man in Talegaon Dabhade reportedly committed suicide after losing over Rs 20,000 on an online gaming platform. The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Kalandate. 

In a desperate bid to recover the losses, he had invested more money, but lost all the money which prompted him to take the extreme step, said police.

As per the information, Kalandate was working as an Ola /Uber cab driver. According to Talegaon Dabhade Police, in an attempt to earn some extra money, Ganesh started playing Rummy on online gaming platform.

Initially, he managed to earn some money but later he was addicted and started losing money. In order to earn the lost money, Ganesh invested more money for which he lost Rs 20,000.

As he had faced back-to-back losses, he become an alcoholic and on Sunday he committed suicide by hanging himself.

Satyawan Mane, Police Inspector said, ” As per his brother’s statement, Ganesh committed suicide due to the loss he had incurred in the online gaming platform.No suicide note has been found in his house. However exact reason will come to know after a detailed investigation.”
