Pune: In a recent development, the Nagar Road – Vadgaonsheri Regional Ward Office in Pune has taken action against unauthorized boards, banners, flex flags, and kiosks. The move aimed to curb the proliferation of unauthorized hoardings and banners cluttering the city’s skyline.

According to officials, 22,501 boards, banners, flexes, flags, and kiosks have been taken down as part of this initiative. The action was taken after several complaints were received about the unauthorized hoardings and banners, which were an eyesore and posed a safety hazard to the public.

Somnath Bankar, Ward Officer Nagar road Vadgaon Sheri said, “Removing these unauthorized hoardings and banners would improve the city’s aesthetic appeal and ensure citizens’ safety. A fine of Rs. 3,92,000 has also been recovered from those who put up the banners.” He added that the drive against unauthorized hoardings and banners would continue, and strict action would be taken against those who flout the rules.

The move has been welcomed by citizens who have long been complaining about the proliferation of unauthorized hoardings and banners in the city. Many have praised the officials for proactively improving the city’s appearance and safety. This action is expected to deter those who engage in the unauthorized display of hoardings and banners. The officials have urged citizens to report any unauthorized hoardings and banners in their locality so that prompt action can be taken.
