Pune News : Chain fasting to save Mula-Mutha from River Front Development project completes one year

Pune: It has been one year since the chain fasting to save Mula-Mutha from the River Front Development (RFD) began, and the citizens of Pune are coming together to recognize this achievement. The fasters have been tirelessly working towards having a safe, free-flowing, and clean Mula-Mutha.

To celebrate this milestone, a gathering will be held on Monday, 27th February 2023, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Vrudheshwar Siddheshwar Ghat. The event will honor the individuals who have been fasting to save the river and encourage more citizens to join the cause. The initiative was started to raise awareness about the pollution and encroachment affecting the river, which has been a lifeline for the city for generations. The chain fasters have been taking turns fasting for 24 hours each, and the movement has gained momentum over the past year.

Shaileja Deshpande of Jeevitnadi said, “The citizens of Pune are encouraged to come together to celebrate this significant achievement and take a step towards preserving the city’s natural resources. The priority must be to clean rivers first and save biodiversity. Our health depends on the health of rivers. We will continue our chain fasting till rivers are free from pollution & encroachments.

The event is open to all citizens who want to contribute to the cause and join the efforts to save Mula-Mutha. The event’s official hashtag is #RFDHataoPuneBachao. For more information, interested individuals can contact Vrunda at 9869359081 or Mukund at 9850096628.Â
