Pune, February 5, 2025: The State Excise Department’s Pune Division conducted two raids on Tuesday, February 4, seizing foreign liquor worth ₹4,83,950 from Wanwadi and Mohammadwadi areas. The operation was led by Flying Squad No. 1, under Inspector Devdutt Pote, along with Sub-Inspector Dinesh Suryawanshi, P.A. Kokare, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sable, and team members Ahmed Sheikh, Chandrakant Naik, Bharat Nemade, Akshada Kad, Amar Kamble, and Vijay Bhanavase.

The first raid took place near Lullanagar Chowk on Netaji Nagar Colony Road in Wanwadi, where the squad intercepted Rajkumar alias Narayan Upadhyay. They found 11 sealed bottles of premium foreign liquor (750 ml each) in his bag, which is prohibited for sale, transport, or possession in Maharashtra.

Based on the information gathered from Upadhyay, the team conducted a second raid at Dhanashree Ashiyana Society, A Wing, Flat No. 701, Mohammadwadi, where they seized 128 sealed bottles of high-quality foreign liquor (700/750 ml) of various brands. Bags used for transportation and mobile phones were also confiscated, bringing the total value of the seized goods to ₹4,83,950.

Sub-Inspector Dinesh Suryawanshi is leading the investigation. Inspector Pote has appealed to the public to report any information regarding illegal liquor production, sale, transport, or storage to the State Excise Flying Squad.
